Rajat Misra is Acting Chief Investment Officer, Public Sector (Region 1) & Financial Institutions and Funds (Global) Clients [CIO1]. In this role, he oversees AIIB’s investment operations with public sector clients in South Asia (except Afghanistan and Pakistan), South East Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Sub-Saharan Africa, and financial institutions and funds clients in all AIIB Members. He serves concurrently as Director General, Public Sector Clients Department Region 1 (PSC1). Prior to this position, Misra served several managerial roles in AIIB, including Acting Vice President for Investment Clients Region 1 and Financial Institutions and Funds (Global), and Director General, Infrastructure Investment Department (Region 1). Before joining AIIB in April 2017, Misra spent 18 years at the investment banking arm of the State Bank of India (SBI). He was also Director and Investment Committee member at the SBI Group—Department for International Development (DFID) Fund for Infrastructure. Misra started his career as an R&D engineer at BHEL, a leading power equipment manufacturing company. He holds a post-graduate degree in Business Management from the Xavier School of Management (XLRI), India, and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Varanasi, India. He also attended the Executive Program in Infrastructure at Kennedy School, Harvard University. Misra is from India.
